There are a few things in life that simply don’t make sense.
- An entry-level job that requires 5 years of experience
- People who stand in line for four hours to board a plane when they have assigned seats
- Walmart shoppers who check out 250 items at the “10 or less” lane
- Returning your airline seat to its original position (2-inch movement) before landing
- Hot dog buns come in packages of eight, but hot dogs come in packages of ten
- Walmart shoppers who leave their carts in the middle of the aisle, then wander off
- You can drink a drink, but you can’t food a food.
- High school chemistry
- Walmart shoppers
Here’s another one for you – people who claim to be in recovery but who don’t go to meetings, work the Steps, or have a sponsor. Their words and actions are in conflict.
It reminds me of a verse in the New Testament: “They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him” (Titus 1:16).
Recovery Step: Bring your actions into alignment with your words. Nothing else makes sense.
