I saw a funny cartoon that showed two little birds sitting on a limb. One of them was wearing a parachute. The other one said, “The problem with you is that you don’t have enough faith.”
Most of us live life with a parachute. We walk around with it tied to our backs – just in case. It would be easy to trust God, if only there weren’t so many things that could go wrong.
- What if the stock market crashes?
- What if the doctor gives bad news?
- What if my spouse leaves me?
- What if I don’t get sober?
God is really good at coming alongside the “What if” crowd. Seven hundred years before the birth of our Lord, God promised, “Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God” (Isaiah 41:10).
God really is enough. It’s time to let go of your parachute.
Recovery Step: Trust God – 100 percent. All in. No looking back. No parachute.
