I love the story of David and Goliath. When no one else would step up, young David stepped out. He said, “Put me in, Coach!” Then we read the following account.
“As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Reaching into his bag and taking out a stone, he slung it and struck the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground. So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; with a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him” (1 Samuel 17:48-50).
At a recent conference in North Carolina, my good friend Rod Handley preached from this passage. He cited three powerful truths:
There is no enemy too strong.
There is no weapon too weak.
There is no battle too big.
Recovery Step: Face your giant in the eye. Pick up your slingshot. The battle awaits.
