“No one would distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise” (Ezra 3:13).
Noise is a problem – a growing problem. Let’s talk about noise.
Twenty-nine percent of the U.S. population is exposed to excessive transportation noise, as compared to just four percent five years ago. There are six different colors of noise: white, pink, brown, green, blue, and violet. And there are four types of noise: continuous, intermittent, impulsive, and low frequency.
The Bible is no fan of noise. Solomon wrote, “There is a time to keep silent” (Ecclesiastes 3:7). And the great prophet added, “In quietness you will find strength” (Isaiah 30:15).
Recovery Step: Slow down, get quiet, be still, and listen for the voice of God.
