An interesting study was conducted in 1984. It was found that hospital patients whose rooms had a window view recovered more quickly than patients whose rooms had no views. Consequently, they spent less time in the hospital. The conclusion was that when we are constantly given a view of hope, we recover more quickly.
God has given each of us incredible views. And you don’t have to go far to see them. Pastor and author Mark Batterson advocates for “two-foot field trips.” By that, he means that we are surrounded with God’s creation and God’s creativity. There are views to behold on every side.
Here’s some good advice, all the way from the first book written in the Bible: “Listen to this, Job; stop and consider God’s wonders. Do you know how God controls the clouds and makes his lightning flash?” (Job 37:14-15).
Recovery Step: You don’t need to go to the Swiss Alps or Bahama islands in order to see the wonder of God. Just take a two-foot field trip. Just look outside.
