1 Samuel 3:19 “And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him.”
Is there anything better that we could ever pray for our children or grandchildren than that? That as our children grow, the Lord would be with them?
Nothing matters more than the abiding presence of God.
In his classic work, Experiencing the Presence of God, A.W. Tozer wrote, “I believe that once a person truly experiences the conscious, manifest presence of God, he will lose interest in everything else in this world.”
Could that be the key to recovery? Rather than focusing all of our efforts toward rejecting destructive behaviors, perhaps we should draw close to the presence of God, and let him do within us what we cannot do ourselves.
Recovery Step: Walk in the manifest presence of God.
