“He said, ‘Hagar, Sarai’s maid, where have you come from and where are you going?’ Then she called on the name of the Lord who spoke to her, ‘You are a God who sees’” (Genesis 16:8, 13).
You may remember this story. Hagar was pregnant. She had fled from her nemesis Sarai. But the Lord found her, for he knew exactly where she was.
Hagar called out to God, and we read six interesting words to her prayer.
“You are a God who sees.”
Just as God saw Hagar where she was, where she had been, and where she was going next, he sees you today. He sees you in your struggles and he sees you in your victories. He sees you when you fall and he sees you when you rise. He sees you when you are tempted, enticed, and drawn toward relapse. He sees you because he’s there. You can call on him, trust him, and turn to him – every time.
Recovery Step: Trust in the one who sees you right where you are.
