We all know the story of David and Goliath. With a single stone, the boy took down the giant. What causes consternation among theologians thousands of years later is one small part of the story. David took five rocks into battle, when he would only need one.
Here’s my take. David had enough faith to face the giant with a slingshot, but not enough faith to do it with just one rock. But God used this man with incomplete faith, anyway.
Don’t wait until you have complete faith – or sobriety – to enter the battle for recovery. God isn’t waiting for you to get it all together before he blesses you and brings freedom. Come as you are, with what faith you have, to the King of the universe.
Recovery Step: Come to God with incomplete faith. Make this verse your own this week: “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” (Philippians 1:6).
